"Toxin Binders Are The New Multivitamin"
Toxins are at the root of or at least involved in most chronic conditions. [11]
Binders can be profoundly important in helping people be healthy in these extremely toxic times. Whether it's for gentle detox support, making a mineral-balancing program more tolerable, or offering critical support during parasite cleanses, binders have got you covered.
This article will cover how they work, how to properly use them, and many great options one can consider for different purposes.

What are toxin binders?
As the name suggests, toxin binders are compounds that "bind to" toxins to help reduce our body burden of them. They have electric charges & specific structures that have high affinities to various elements and compounds depending on which binder you choose.
Our bodies have the natural ability to get rid of toxins; but our modern environment is extremely unnaturally toxic from hundreds of thousands of different chemicals & heavy metal levels thousands of times higher than even 50 years ago. The sheer volume of pollution exposure can cause people's elimination pathways to get overwhelmed and lead to their bodies accumulating the toxins that cannot be processed & eliminated. [11,12]
Binders take the burden off the liver & the kidneys by interrupting enterohepatic recirculation and maximizing excretion through the colon.
This is where unbound toxins get reabsorbed in the GI tract, causing a cycle of being reprocessed by the liver, excreted into the colon, reabsorbed, then reprocessed by the liver again. This cycle puts a massive strain on our detox pathways.

How To Use Toxin Binders Properly
Binders are generally best taken away from food, as some can bind nutrients and others simply don't work as well with food.
Push-Catch Technique - Consists of taking liver drainage supplements such as Amaro Cynara, KL-Support, or BittersX then following it up with binders 30 minutes later. These supplements move toxin-loaded bile into the small intestine, where the binders can mop it all up.
A very small percentage of people do not tolerate binders. They are typically chronic mold patients or have severe mineral imbalances. For these cases, it's especially important to work with a practitioner.
It's also important to build a well-rounded protocol around the binders that replaces vital minerals, supports liver & lymph drainage, and eventually addresses any pathogen overgrowth that may be present.
A Note On Brands
A common question I get is "can I get cheaper brands of these binders elsewhere?"
The answer is an emphatic NO. Quality matters so much in binder selection. Many cheaper made versions can be much less effective, create negative reactions, or be flat out toxic due to contamination or differences in chemistry.

Blue requires patient direct code tsXvEkKF to order.
Zeolites - Broad Spectrum
Volcanic clays that are great for mold toxins, metals, pesticides, ammonia, and biotoxins. [2]
ZeoBind - Gut focused zeolite. A favorite for leaky gut. Great starting place for many.
ZeoCharge - Micronized zeolite which is smaller in size allowing it function systemically. People tolerate it better at high doses than lower ones.
HM-ET - Systemic micronized zeolite with carbon technology for better delivery. Good for metals and pesticides. (code: tsXvEkKF)
KI-Science Zeolite - for europe
Carbonized Bamboo - The "Panic Button"
Takesumi Supreme - Broad spectrum binding covering mycotoxins, radiation, metals, chemicals, and more. Great for when feeling very off center. About 2 months maximum before rotating binders. [3]
Fulvic Humic Acids - Pesticides & Mitochondria Support
Fulvic & Humic acids are group of compounds that form when plants break down. They shine in detoxifying pesticides, which makes them great for healing the gut microbiome. They also promote mineral-balance in a variety of ways such as supplementing minerals, detoxifying toxic minerals, or helping make minerals within us more bioavailable. Some are better for binding, others better for supporting mitochondria function, and others better for healing the gut. [4,5,6]
ION* Gut Support - Fantastic gut healer. Pesticide focused binder. Sign up for fullscript here.
Shilajit (MitoLife Panacea) - More gentle & supplements more minerals. Weak binder.
CT-Minerals - Better for mitochondria support which speeds up progress of most detox protocols. (code: tsXvEkKF) Weak binder.
BC-ATP - Stronger mitochondria support; fantastic neurotropic. Good for detoxifying radiation. (code: tsXvEkKF) Weak binder.
Carboxy- Broad spectrum systemic binding. Highly selective for toxins instead of nutrients making it great for long-term usage and safe to take with food. Great value for money as well. (code: tsXvEkKF)
Pectins - Toxic Metals (general) & Biofilms
Modified Citrus Pectin - This is a kind of insoluble fiber from citrus fruits that is "modified" to have a lower molecular weight that greatly increases it's toxin binding capacity. Although it was originally studied for helping cancer patients, it proved to be a great toxic metal binder. It has some immune balancing properties that may contribute to longevity, and also helps to dismantle biofilms and excess fibrin. [1] Pairs great with Mineral-Balancing programs. Silicas - Toxic Metals (aluminum & mercury)
Silicas are varied in their capacities. They are all generally great for detoxifying aluminum, which is probably the most common heavy metal people are toxic in today. [7]
Enterosgel - methylated silica that is a fantastic gut healer. Marketed for IBS, it can help with food poisoning as well. [10]
Microsilica - best mercury binder available. Great for other heavy metals too. [9] Warning, use under the guidance of a practitioner only. Sign up for fullscript here.
BioSil - amazing aluminum detox agent. Very helpful for collagen production (hair, skin, nails) as a bonus. [8] Sign up for fullscript here.
Silica Rich Water - great way of gently supporting aluminum detox.
Algae - The "Intelligent Binders" + Nutritional Support
Algaes are essentially nature's answer to environmental pollution.
Chlorella - broad spectrum & highly selective binding with fantastic nutritional support. Has Chlorella Growth Factor, which is incredible for detox & brain function. Uniquely good for microplastics. Not always tolerated initially, so I would consider this an "advanced" binder. This particular chlorella is the only one I recommend; it's in a tier of it's own.
Ecklonia Cava - more gentle algae than chlorella. Has loads of other benefits such as healing blood vessels & immune balancing effects that help us deal with pathogen overgrowths.
Formulas - Specific To Goals
Biotoxin Binder - great for gut infections, mold/candida, & ammonia. Pairs well with parasite cleansing. Also good for high copper on an HTMA & sulfur sensitivity. (code: tsXvEkKF)
ViRadChem Binder - mixture of many different binders that also offers some anti inflammatory benefits. It's good for viruses, radiation, and chemicals, as the name suggests. (code: tsXvEkKF)
GI Detox - broad spectrum formula that is gut focused. Sign up for fullscript here.
TrueCarbon Cleanse - broad spectrum formula that is gut focused.
Quicksilver Ultra Binder - broad spectrum formula that is a bit better for heavy metals. Sign up for fullscript here.
Binders generally not recommended
Charcoal - Binds to far too many nutrients. Okay for a few days at a time during a herx reaction or food poisoning.
Bentonite Clays - Decent binding, but contributes to aluminum toxicity. Can be used in a bath, but one must be using a silica based binder in addition.
Diatomaceous earth - Can damage gut lining.
Building A Detox Protocol
Binders are a crucial piece of the puzzle for many. While they can be very helpful, they need to be incorporated as part of a larger detox protocol that includes things like liver & lymph drainage, mineral-balance, immune support, and more.
There's a lot of mistakes that can be made along the way. That's why when venturing beyond the basics, detox should always been done under the guidance of a skilled practitioner.
